The Patrol Division of the West Plains Police Department is the largest division in the department and provides the basic law enforcement protection for the people of West Plains, MO. As the uniformed Officer is usually the first representative a citizen of West Plains may encounter in times of crisis, this division is the flagship of the Police Department

Made up of 20 uniformed Patrol Officers who are responsible for 24-hour 7-day a week patrol of the city. Commanded by a Sergeant and three Corporals, the Patrol Division is spilt into two patrol zones. Each officer is responsible for their zone throughout their 8-hour shift. The goal of this division is to prevent crime by deterring those who would violate the law through highly visible proactive patrolling of the city. To accomplish this objective Officers rapidly and prudently respond to calls for service, conduct thorough preliminary investigations, and assist the citizens of this city with a myriad of legal, medical, social, and humanitarian problems.
